LAN HA BAY  ·  2 DAYS 1 NIGHT  ·  6-STAR  ·  FROM TUAN CHAU

Diana — a quieter, slower way to see the bay.

A brand-new 2025 boutique cruise on Lan Ha, the quieter neighbour to Halong. 56 cabins with private balconies and in-cabin jacuzzis, plus the bay's largest year-round infinity pool.

Diana's route stays in Lan Ha. On the way from Tuan Chau you'll cruise past the karsts of Halong Bay — but the anchor and activities are all in the calm of Lan Ha.

Diana is a 2025-launched Modern Luxury boutique cruise on Lan Ha Bay — the quieter, less-touristed neighbour to Halong. Best suited to couples and small groups who want private balconies and in-cabin jacuzzis, and who value having enough amenities onboard (infinity pool, spa, 270° sky deck) that the boat itself becomes a destination. Two itineraries available: 2 days 1 night, and 3 days 2 nights.

FIVE DISTINCTIONS

Five things you won't find on most Lan Ha cruises.

  1. The bay's largest year-round infinity pool

Roughly 50 m², heated in winter, salt-ion filtration instead of chlorine. Most Lan Ha cruise pools are half this size and close from November to March.

  2. An in-cabin jacuzzi in every cabin

Even the entry-level Junior includes a jacuzzi bathtub — not just the suites. Almost every other 6-star cruise reserves jacuzzis for premium categories only.

  3. Starlink satellite Wi-Fi throughout the bay

Diana is one of few Lan Ha cruises using Starlink instead of 4G-based Wi-Fi. Signal holds at the Tra Bau anchor and Ba Trai Dao cove where cellular Wi-Fi drops out.

  4. Two elevators & step-free access

A rare pairing on Halong-area cruises. Practical for guests with reduced mobility, families with strollers, or anyone who'd rather not climb six flights to the sky bar.

  5. Cultural workshops included, not upsold

Dong Ho folk painting, tea ceremony, herbal foot soak, and Viet Phuc traditional attire — all complimentary, not add-ons. Held in dedicated spaces onboard.

Fewer than 4 suite-tier cabins onboard Diana. Reserve your preferred type early.

MEET DIANA

Designed as a resort that happens to float.

Diana was drawn around one question: what if the amenities of a resort — pool, spa, three restaurants, an observation deck — could sit on a boat quiet enough for Lan Ha's protected waters?

The result: six floors plus a rooftop bar, two elevators (rare on cruises), a 350 m² restaurant, a 270° observation deck, and a mini-golf green on the sundeck. Small enough to feel intimate at 56 cabins; fitted out like a boutique hotel.

★★★★★

"The jacuzzi in the cabin was a real surprise — I thought it would be a small tub, but it was proper. Sunset from the balcony with a bath was the highlight of our trip."

"The crew remembered our names by the second meal. Chef adapted every dish for my wife's shellfish allergy without us having to remind him. Small thing, huge impact."

David & Sarah T. · Australia · Nov 2025

★★★★★

"I've done Halong twice before with mid-range boats. Diana on Lan Ha is a totally different experience — barely saw another cruise at Tra Bau. Worth the price jump."

FREQUENTLY ASKED

Questions travelers actually ask.

Is Lan Ha better than Halong Bay for a cruise?
Lan Ha and Halong share the same karst landscape — they are neighbouring bays. Halong holds the iconic sights (Titop Island, Surprise Cave) and about 3× the daily boat traffic. Lan Ha is quieter, with hidden coves like Tra Bau and Ba Trai Dao that day cruises never reach. If it's your first visit and you want the postcard shots, choose Halong. If you want karsts without the crowds, choose Lan Ha.
How does Diana compare to other 6-star cruises on Lan Ha?
Diana launched in 2025 with 56 cabins — larger than most Lan Ha boutique cruises (typically 20-30 cabins). Its distinguishing features are the bay's largest year-round infinity pool (~50 m² with salt-ion filtration), in-cabin jacuzzis in every cabin (not just suites), Starlink Wi-Fi, and two elevators. Compared to Aqua Luxury or Stellar of the Seas, Diana is newer and has more amenities.
How is Diana's route different from Ambassador I or other Halong cruises?
Diana runs a Lan Ha-only route anchoring at Tra Bau — a quiet cove accessible only to overnight cruises. Ambassador I runs the classic Halong loop (Surprise Cave, Titop Island, Luon Cave) — the iconic sights every day cruise also visits. Choose Diana if you want privacy and pristine water at Tra Bau. Choose Ambassador I if you want the famous Halong photograph experience.
What's the difference between the 6 cabin categories?
Junior and Senior are both 34 m² on Floor 1 — Junior has a double bed only, Senior offers twin-bed setup. Executive (36 m²) sits on Floor 2 with slightly better views. Premier (38 m²) is on Floor 3, the top passenger floor, and adds a 30-minute complimentary spa treatment. Ha Long Suite and Lan Ha Suite are both 55 m² with private terraces and sun loungers; the difference is floor (Ha Long is Floor 2, Lan Ha is Floor 3). All 56 cabins share the same standard of jacuzzi, balcony, Starlink Wi-Fi, and soundproofing.
Do I get seasick on Lan Ha Bay?
Lan Ha is one of the calmest cruise areas in Vietnam — it's protected water surrounded by karst islands and Cat Ba island, so open swell doesn't reach it. Diana's 56-cabin, 6-floor build sits high and stable. Guests prone to motion sickness rarely report issues here. If you're particularly sensitive, choose a Junior or Senior cabin on Floor 1 (closer to the waterline, less motion).
How do I get from Hanoi to Tuan Chau Marina?
Tuan Chau Marina is about 2h30 from Hanoi. TripBestie offers optional round-trip shuttle bus from Hanoi Old Quarter or a private car service as an add-on when you book Diana. Pickup is between 07:40 and 08:30 to arrive at the port for the 11:45 embarkation.
What happens if the weather is bad?
If the Port Authority cancels Diana's departure due to weather (typhoons or severe storms), TripBestie will secure you a same-tier alternative cruise on a nearby date or issue a full refund within 48 hours. For minor weather (rain, wind), the cruise still runs but outdoor activities like kayaking or swimming may be replaced with indoor alternatives. Vietnam's typhoon season is roughly July–September.
How do I pay and is my booking secure?
You submit an inquiry with your preferred date and cabin — no payment at this stage. Within 2 hours during Vietnam business hours, a TripBestie coordinator confirms availability directly with Diana and sends you a written quote. You only pay after we confirm the boat is available. Payment options include international card (Visa/Mastercard via Stripe), bank transfer, or Wise.
Is Wi-Fi available at sea on Diana?
Yes. Diana is one of the few Halong-area cruises using Starlink satellite Wi-Fi, meaning coverage is stable throughout Lan Ha Bay — including at the Tra Bau anchor where traditional 4G/LTE signals often drop.
Is Diana suitable for families with young children?
Yes. Diana has two elevators which help with strollers and elderly guests. Children under 5 sharing with parents are free (max 1 child per cabin, 2nd child 50%); 5–10 years pay 75%; 11+ pay full rate. Mini golf on the sundeck is a hit with kids.
Are alcoholic drinks included in Diana's price?
No — drinks are excluded (only bottled water is complimentary). Diana operates a Sky Bar and lounge with cocktails, wine, and beer. Happy hour deals are usually offered in the late afternoon.
Can I add a Hanoi hotel or Ninh Binh extension?
Yes. TripBestie can bundle Hanoi hotels, Ninh Binh day trips (Trang An, Tam Coc, Bai Dinh), or a 2-day Ninh Binh extension into your booking. Just mention it in your inquiry — we handle all logistics including transfers.
